politics
The prime minister has directed the justice secretary to find a way to keep PC Andrew Harper's killers out of an early release scheme designed to ease prison overcrowding. Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers, sentenced to thirteen years for manslaughter, are due to be freed in January under the existing plans, but Harper's family and police have pushed back. The Guardian reports the prime minister is said to be "determined" that a solution can be found.
