New White House counsel could face Democrats’ scrutiny post-midterms

politics

Semafor reports that President Trump has appointed Will Scharf as White House counsel. If Democrats regain the House in the fall, he's likely to land on their investigative radar. Scharf chairs the National Capital Planning Commission, which oversees Federal Reserve renovations. Last year, he visited the central bank while Trump was attempting to pressure the Federal Reserve over monetary policy. As counsel, Scharf will defend the White House against Democratic subpoenas and potentially face inquiries into administration business relationships.
