Utah under historic ‘red flag’ weather warning amid dangerous wildfires
other
Utah is under its first-ever 'particularly dangerous situation' red flag warning from the National Weather Service, according to the Guardian. The Salt Lake City area is facing extreme conditions: wind gusts of forty to fifty miles per hour combined with scorching heat and severe drought. Meteorologist Chase Thomason at KUTV warns that these conditions could cause explosive wildfire growth—any new fire could spread rapidly and become difficult to control. The governor declared a state of emergency and banned personal fireworks across the state through the Fourth of July.
