Microsoft Plugs Nearly 400 Security Holes

Microsoft addressed three hundred ninety-eight security vulnerabilities in Windows and its software—nearly double June's patch count, and part of a trend accelerated by artificial intelligence. Per Krebs on Security, experts now expect monthly batches of hundreds to become routine. Forty-two vulnerabilities earned Microsoft's most critical rating, and one zero-day privilege escalation in the Windows socket driver is already being exploited in the wild. The broader industry is following suit: Adobe, Cisco, Google, Mozilla, and Oracle are all shipping updates far more frequently. The catch: research shows AI-generated security patches fail or introduce new weaknesses more than half the time, and experts warn that safe deployment—not speed—is the real bottleneck.
