Xbox CEO Asha Sharma Gushes About Elder Scrolls VI, Does Not Seem To Notice Giant Rat On Bethesda Office Lawn
tech
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma visited Bethesda Game Studios in Rockville, Maryland, and was greeted by union protesters bearing a giant inflatable rat and red flags—one for each laid-off developer. Per Aftermath, this follows Microsoft's recent layoffs: one thousand six hundred workers laid off last month, with another one thousand six hundred planned. Rather than address the demonstration, Sharma tweeted about Elder Scrolls VI gameplay, praising its scale and story. Union member Nathan Hahn said workers tried making their presence visible through posters and balloons, but management restricted them. Meanwhile, morale among remaining staff is collapsing—a lead programmer at id Software told a podcast audience that continuing triple-A development with half the staff isn't hard, it's impossible. Workers are planning another round of rallies for August eighteenth.
