Microsoft Patch Tuesday for August 2026 — Snort rules and prominent vulnerabilities

Per Cisco Talos, Microsoft's August Patch Tuesday includes four hundred twenty-one vulnerabilities, with sixty-two marked critical. At least one flaw—affecting the Windows Ancillary Function Driver—is already being exploited in the wild. The update carries several particularly severe remote code execution vulnerabilities, including ones in Windows Deployment Services, SharePoint Server, and Windows DHCP Server, with severity scores reaching nine point eight. Azure infrastructure services also have critical flaws; one elevation-of-privilege vulnerability in Azure SRE Agent rates nine point nine. Organizations should prioritize patching these high-severity issues.
