Phys.org reports the ESCAPE mission will investigate how exoplanet atmospheres evolve. The habitable zone—the region around a star where liquid water could exist on a planet's surface—is a starting point for assessing which worlds might support life. But the zone alone can't determine whether a planet is actually habitable.
