Thousands left without power after attempted copper theft

An attempted copper theft in southeast Queensland left thirteen thousand residents without power overnight. According to Energex, someone broke into a substation cable pit and attempted to cut through an eleven-thousand-volt power cable. The breach damaged critical infrastructure and prompted emergency repairs.
