3 Pakistanis die as multiple ships attacked in Gulf waters
world
Three Pakistani sailors are among six people killed after Houthi rebels struck the Tanzania-flagged cargo ship Tihamah in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on Tuesday, Dawn reports. A first strike sparked a fire and killed crew members, including three Pakistanis and one Indonesian national, and a second strike hit rescue workers as they tried to evacuate the vessel, injuring ten more. Separately, US forces disabled the Panama-flagged Vela Nova off Pakistan's coast after its crew ignored warnings to stop, part of a broader American blockade targeting Iran-linked shipping in the Gulf of Oman. The attacks add to a string of strikes on vessels in the corridor since the Houthis declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia last month.
