Pakistan warns UN Security Council of ‘tipping point’ in occupied West Bank

Pakistan is warning the UN Security Council that the occupied West Bank is nearing what its ambassador called a dangerous tipping point. Speaking to the Council on Tuesday, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said settlement expansion, settler violence, and land seizures were fragmenting Palestinian territory and driving the largest displacement crisis in the West Bank since 1967. UN Secretary-General António Guterres backed that assessment, stating that Israeli settlements have no legal validity and violate international law, while Russia's ambassador separately warned the region was approaching a point of no return. According to Dawn, the UN's humanitarian agency OCHA reported over eleven hundred Palestinians killed in the West Bank since October of twenty twenty-three, including seventy-six so far this year.
