Morning update

world

Middle East Eye's morning regional roundup shows tensions running high on several fronts. President Trump told reporters he doesn't trust Iran and claimed the US has, in his words, total control over the Strait of Hormuz. In the Red Sea, a Houthi attack on a commercial vessel killed at least three Pakistani nationals, according to Islamabad's foreign minister. Kurdish media, as Middle East Eye tells it, reported Iranian missiles and drones striking several sites in Iraq's Erbil province, while Israeli forces kept up attacks in southern Lebanon and Syria's Quneitra countryside. The outlet also notes a Pentagon disclosure to Congress, first reported by The Hill, that last year's US strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen killed one hundred fifty-three civilians and injured two hundred forty-three more, with additional incidents still under review.
