Who’s Tracking You? Use This New Service to Find Out

A powerful new tool called DecryptAds is making it simple to discover who's tracking you across the web. Per Krebs on Security, DecryptAds scrapes publicly available advertising files—ones websites and apps must disclose—that spell out every ad network and data broker permitted to collect your data. When the service analyzed major websites, including ESPN and U.S. military news outlets, it revealed they work with advertising partners based in Russia, China, and other geo-risk countries. The discovery underscores a remarkable gap: as the researchers noted, 'for years we've had almost no one policing these adtech files.'
