Canes acquire Carlson rights in trade with Ducks

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired the rights to defenseman John Carlson from the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. According to ESPN, Carlson is an unrestricted free agent, giving the Hurricanes the opportunity to negotiate with him directly.
