Lego's supersized Hubble deserves a little more shine

Lego has released its largest Hubble Space Telescope model yet—the Icons set contains one thousand, two hundred fifty-two pieces. Per The Register, the model stands thirty-two centimeters tall and measures thirty-eight centimeters in both length and width with the aperture door open. It retails for one hundred nineteen pounds ninety-nine pence. The set includes one astronaut minifigure and features movable solar arrays, antennas, and an opening aperture door. Inside are detailed representations of Hubble's instruments, including its gyroscopes and mirrors. The Register notes the build takes six to twelve hours and is aimed at ages eighteen and up. The set's main drawback is its predominant grey plastic, which feels cheap compared to the silver in Lego's earlier Hubble model. The model includes a thirty-five decal marking Hubble's thirty-fifth anniversary. The real Hubble Space Telescope continues to orbit, though its operational days are likely numbered.
