After Tejpal: A letter to progressive men from a feminist

In a letter published by Scroll.in, writer Arundhati Ghosh addresses what she calls progressive men who defended Tarun Tejpal after the Bombay High Court overturned his 2021 acquittal. The court sentenced the former Tehelka editor to ten years for sexually assaulting a junior colleague in an elevator, and Ghosh writes that some male allies responded by questioning the survivor and framing the case as a matter of competing courtroom narratives. Tejpal, for his part, pointed to his age and marriage and compared his situation to that of activists jailed without trial. Ghosh's letter, as Scroll.in reports it, is a direct challenge to men she once considered comrades in feminist causes.
