A new analysis published this week in The BMJ finds that Australia's ban on social media for children under sixteen has failed to reduce usage among teenagers. The measure was the world's first national age-based social media restriction, but adolescents' online habits appear largely unchanged—casting doubt on whether similar bans now being considered in Europe and North America will prove any more effective.
