Markdown SVG upgrades

dev_tools

Developer Simon Willison has unveiled an upgrade to his markdown-SVG renderer tool, per Simon Willison's Weblog. The new capability: converting animated SVGs to MP4 video files, all in your browser. The tool takes Markdown with embedded SVG—you can paste it in or point it at a URL—and renders the SVG with export options for PNG, JPEG, or MP4. The MP4 feature uses ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so your browser handles the video encoding. That's particularly useful when sharing SVG animations on platforms that don't support them natively. The tool is free to use at tools dot simonwillison dot net.
