Hawaii is turning ocean plastic and fishing nets into roads

science

According to ScienceDaily, researchers in Hawaii are mixing recycled ocean plastic and discarded fishing nets into asphalt for road construction. Early tests show that these roads don't release more plastic particles than traditional pavement—tire wear was the dominant factor. If future studies confirm the durability of this material, the approach could address both marine pollution and landfill overflow.
