World War II 'hell ship' with over 1,000 prisoners found in Philippines

Divers have discovered the wreck of the Hofuku Maru, a Japanese freighter that sank off Luzon in the Philippines during World War II. According to Euronews, the ship went down in nineteen forty-four carrying over one thousand two hundred Allied prisoners of war. A recently digitized military record finally solved the mystery of the ship's location after decades. The discovery provides closure to one of the Pacific Theater's tragic chapters.
