Europe swelters under record heat
world
Tens of millions across Europe are facing extreme heat as a dangerous heatwave sweeps the continent. Switzerland has broken its record for hottest June day three times this week alone. Denmark recorded its highest temperature ever on Saturday. The heat is so intense that two nuclear reactors along the Aare River have been taken offline — the water grew too warm to safely cool the plants. Spain has reported three hundred twenty-seven heat-related deaths this week. According to France 24, scientists say a heatwave this severe this early in summer would have been virtually impossible without human-caused climate change. Europe remains the world's fastest-warming continent, facing increasingly dangerous heat.
