We Churned Notion After 7 Years. Our AI Agent Took Its Last Job.
saas
SaaStr canceled Notion after seven years—not because the product failed, but because an internal AI agent replaced it. Per SaaStr founder Jason Lemkin, Notion had narrowed to one job: the Monday staff meeting dashboard. When SaaStr built 10K, an AI Vice President of Revenue, it began pulling the same data—revenue, campaigns, pipeline—and gradually took over that meeting. By the time the team realized Notion was unnecessary, the agent had been running the meeting for months. Here's what matters: the happiest, quietest customers are now most exposed to displacement by their own AI agents, because agents excel at automating narrow, single-job workflows. Remarkably, Notion's re-engagement email—asking why a user hadn't logged in—directly prompted the cancellation. Lemkin argues that B2B customer health systems, built on the assumption that silent customers are satisfied customers, are now blind to a churn vector they never modeled: gradual absorption into internal tools.
