Torrential rain forecast puts six Punjab cities on flood watch

Pakistan's Flood Forecasting Division has put six major Punjab cities—Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Gujrat—on alert for possible urban flooding over the next twenty-four hours. Dawn reports the Chenab, Ravi and Kabul rivers are approaching low-flood thresholds, and hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan carry a risk of flash flooding. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has warned of widespread monsoon rain across Punjab through August twenty-first and put local administrations on high alert.
