Australia's Labor government has updated its gambling advertising regulations, accepting more than a dozen amendments proposed by the Coalition. The reforms create an opt-out register letting Australians block gambling promotions, with the gambling industry covering implementation costs. Despite their amendments being incorporated into the bill, some Coalition MPs still crossed the floor in protest. Per Treasurer Jim Chalmers, the changes are substantial and will give regulators stronger tools to enforce rules around inducements.
