NASA, ESA Astronauts Wrap Up Station Spacewalk
science
NASA Science reports that NASA astronaut Anil Menon and European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot wrapped up a six hour twenty‑three minute spacewalk on the International Space Station at two fifty‑two p.m. Eastern daylight time. During the EVA they removed a failed space‑to‑ground antenna and secured the unit to the station’s truss, but extra time was needed to disconnect cables and loosen bolts, pushing the replacement antenna installation to a later date. The crew also swapped a portable foot restraint near the Quest airlock and performed cleanup tasks. Adenot became the first French woman to walk in space, and the outing marked the two hundred eighty‑second spacewalk supporting the station. Mission planners will now set the next EVA for Tuesday, August twenty‑five.
