Show HN: Automatically detect and patch walking-dead states in Sierra games

dev_tools

A developer posted on Hacker News on Wednesday about a new tool that tackles a classic frustration in old Sierra adventure games. The Lucasartsifier automatically scans game resource files to find so-called walking-dead states — moments where you're stuck because you missed an item earlier — and generates patches to prevent them. It currently works on several titles, including Leisure Suit Larry 2 and King's Quest 4 and 6, with King's Quest 5 in progress. The developer says the tool was built with Claude, and they're inviting feedback and playtesting.
