Trump pauses 50pc tariffs on Canadian goods for three days as both sides signal broader trade agreement

politics

President Donald Trump has issued a three-day pause on planned fifty percent tariffs on select Canadian goods, according to Dawn. The reprieve comes just hours before a midnight deadline as both nations signal they are nearing a broader trade agreement to revise the United States-Canada-Mexico Agreement. Per Dawn, the proposed deal aims to address market access for American goods and economic security commitments, while Trump also suggested the Keystone XL Pipeline could be revived. The tariffs, which target roughly twenty billion dollars in exports including cement and hockey sticks, were originally prompted by allegations of discriminatory treatment of U.S. alcohol and dairy products.
