Politics live: Wong says ‘it’s a difficult time’ in Australia’s relationship with Israel after Zomi Frankcom decision; Taylor targets Labor over debt
world
Australia's relationship with Israel has hit a strained point, Foreign Minister Penny Wong says, after Israel's military cleared itself of wrongdoing in the killing of aid worker Zomi Frankcom and her World Central Kitchen colleagues. Greens leader Larissa Waters called the decision outrageous following a two-year investigation, and urged the government to sanction Israel and halt arms trade between the two countries. The Guardian reports Waters said Frankcom, an Australian killed while delivering humanitarian aid, was "the best of us." Wong has so far stopped short of committing to further action beyond expressing concern.
