Syrian foreign minister arrives in Islamabad on official visit

Dawn reports that Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani arrived in Islamabad early Thursday for an official visit. The Foreign Office says the two sides will hold in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and regional developments. This is the first visit by a Syrian foreign minister to Pakistan since 2007, and the first since Syria's transitional government took over after the fall of Bashar al-Assad. The visit comes a day after Pakistan condemned Israeli airstrikes on a Syrian airbase, expressing solidarity with Syria.
