Russia's Supreme Court has thrown the liberal opposition party Yabloko off September's Duma ballot, Meduza reports. The party, which has just four thousand members, says eight thousand people have applied to join in the last two weeks, and its Moscow branch head describes a wave of young supporters outside the courthouse. He also says the party is helping detainees with lawyers, and warns that shutting out so many voters is a civic catastrophe.
