International Finance Corporation signs first $100m deal with private bank
business
Dawn reports that the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank’s commercial arm, and Bank Alfalah signed a one hundred million dollar financing under the Diversified Payment Rights programme on Thursday in Islamabad. The deal, overseen by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, is the first DPR transaction by a Pakistani private bank and is intended to mobilise long‑term foreign‑currency funding for eligible projects. Officials said the structure could open a new market‑based channel for international capital and may lead to further financing if market conditions are favourable. The finance ministry highlighted that this milestone could pave the way for similar arrangements by other banks.
