A series of earthquakes has devastated Venezuela, killing at least one thousand four hundred fifty people, with the death toll expected to rise. According to Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela's National Assembly, more than thirty-one hundred people have been injured, and nearly thirteen thousand have been displaced. Search and rescue teams are working urgently through the rubble, as officials warn that the critical window to find survivors is rapidly closing.
