Khunjerab Pass generates record Rs15 billion in customs revenue
business
Dawn reports that Pakistan Customs collected a record fifteen billion rupees in import duties from China through the Khunjerab Pass during the fiscal year twenty twenty five to twenty six, beating the previous thirteen point six seven billion rupee high. Exports to China and Central Asian nations via the same crossing reached two point eight billion rupees, including surgical supplies, carpets, cherries and motorcycle parts, customs collector Wajid Ali said. The agency also noted a joint crackdown that recovered billions of rupees in contraband and, in two recent intelligence‑driven raids, seized three hundred seventeen smartphones, three thousand five hundred bottles of Chinese wine and one thousand five hundred kilograms of pork, valued at about one hundred fifty eight million rupees. Traders, however, complain that Chinese immigration procedures are hindering their shipments and are urging Pakistani officials to raise the issue with Beijing, Dawn adds.
