Ornith-1.0: Self-Scaffolding LLMs for Agentic Coding
dev_tools
DeepReinforce has released Ornith-1.0, an open-source language model built on top of Gemma 4 and Qwen 3.5. The model comes in several sizes—from nine billion parameters up to three hundred ninety-seven billion—and achieves state-of-the-art performance on coding benchmarks for open-source models in its size class. Ornith is MIT licensed and available as open weights. According to Simon Willison's hands-on testing, the model excels at agentic coding tasks, including navigating codebases and identifying specific functions. Willison also demonstrated the model's creative capabilities, having it generate ASCII art of a pelican at over one hundred tokens per second.
