CDF Munir to visit Tehran on Monday, says Iranian foreign ministry

Dawn reports that Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will visit Tehran on Monday, according to Iran's foreign ministry. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and continue Pakistan's mediation efforts for regional peace. It coincides with a Monday announcement on planned US sanctions that officials have called the toughest in history, while oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz remain at a standstill. Pakistan has been brokering talks between Washington and Tehran since the war began in February, including a ceasefire in April and a memorandum of understanding in June.
