Pakistan to host South Asian Games in April next year
sports
Dawn reports that Pakistan will host the South Asian Games — a multi‑sport competition among South Asian nations — from April third to eleventh next year, the first time the country has staged the event since two thousand four. The executive committee approved Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar as the three host cities, with more than three thousand athletes expected to compete across twenty‑eight sports and three hundred forty‑six medal events. The federal government has released funding and is overseeing final preparations, including accommodation for roughly four thousand foreign visitors, while a visiting delegation inspected venues and historic sites in Islamabad. India took part in the meeting via video link, but its athletes’ participation has not yet been confirmed.
