Beyond Reach Labs Unveils Flarewing Deployable Solar Arrays
tech
Payload Space reports that Brooklyn‑based Beyond Reach Labs has unveiled its first commercial deployable solar‑array system, called Flarewing, with a market debut expected early next year. Fresh from a ten million dollar seed round, the startup is offering three sizes: the small unit weighs nine kilograms, folds to a one metre by twenty‑five centimetre by eight centimetre package and expands to thirty square meters, delivering up to eight kilowatts; the medium version weighs twenty‑nine kilograms, unfolds to one hundred eighty square meters for fifty‑five kilowatts; and the large model, at one hundred nine kilograms, reaches six hundred twenty‑five square meters and can supply two hundred kilowatts of power. Beyond Reach Labs plans to qualify the small array by year’s end and begin integration onto spacecraft in early twenty twenty‑seven, with the larger models following through twenty twenty‑eight. The company says the new products aim to meet the rising power demands of in‑space data centres and commercial stations, where every extra watt counts.
