European cinema chain Kinepolis is bringing its brand to the U.S. market with a $30 million acquisition of Showcase Cinemas. The deal gives Kinepolis control of thirteen theaters concentrated in the Northeast, across Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island. It's a strategic expansion at a time when theatrical exhibition faces significant competition from streaming platforms.
