NASA, ESA Astronauts Suiting Up for Antenna Installation Spacewalk

NASA Science reports that two astronauts are preparing for a spacewalk outside the International Space Station to continue installing a replacement antenna. NASA's Anil Menon and ESA's Sophie Adenot will step out of the Quest airlock to install a Space-to-Ground antenna, a critical link for high-speed data transmission between Mission Control in Houston and the station. The spacewalk is scheduled to begin around eight thirty-five a.m. Eastern and last about six and a half hours. This follows an earlier spacewalk on August eighteenth when they removed the failed antenna but needed more time than expected to disconnect cables and loosen bolts, delaying the installation. Menon will be making his third spacewalk, Adenot her second, and it will be the two hundred eighty-third spacewalk supporting station assembly and maintenance.
