According to NASA, the agency's most powerful telescopes have turned their combined gaze on one of the cosmos's most visually striking objects: Messier 64, known as the Black Eye Galaxy. Its famous dark dust lane, which inspired its brooding nickname, comes into sharp focus when observed across ultraviolet, visible, and infrared wavelengths. The composite reveals a galaxy far more intricate than its ominous appearance suggests.
