Wind Chime Memorial Tree in Spring Hill, Florida
other
A live oak tree near Spring Hill, Florida has become an unlikely memorial space. In 1998, local businessman Gus Guadagnino hung wind chimes on the tree's branches to remember his mother. Others followed his lead, and today, according to Atlas Obscura, hundreds of chimes—tiny ones barely six inches tall to larger tubes several feet long—hang from the branches alongside crosses, jewelry, and handmade signs. The tree, which sits near the Suncoast Trail, has transformed into a folk shrine where mourners of all kinds come to honor their loved ones. Each breeze turns the oak into a music box of remembrance.
