Exclusive: ICE obtains local voter files in two counties

The Trump administration is expanding its investigation into non-citizen voting. According to Axios, Immigration and Customs Enforcement obtained voter files from counties in Texas and North Carolina, as part of a broader effort to root out alleged illegal voting. But documented cases of non-citizen voting are extremely rare—a conservative think tank found just one hundred convictions over four decades. One Texas county administrator said he'd identified only two cases among one hundred fifty thousand voters in four years. Civil rights advocates have raised concerns about the scope of these investigations.
