Researchers have developed a hyperdoped silicon photodiode to improve the detection of short-wave infrared light at room temperature. As Phys.org tells it, this technology could lead to more advanced night-vision imaging, as well as improvements in industrial inspection, environmental monitoring, and medical imaging.
