Panama and El Salvador declare emergency over El Nino-fuelled drought

France 24 reports that Panama and El Salvador have declared an emergency over a drought fueled by El Nino, joining Honduras in the measure. The climate pattern has already forced a reduction in shipping through the Panama Canal. All three countries broke monthly temperature records in both June and July, exacerbating concerns about famine.
