A new Chinese film drawing inspiration from Virginia Woolf is premiering at the Shanghai International Film Festival. 'Outside the Room of My Own,' the debut feature from filmmaker Yan Siyu, follows a burned-out Beijing writer seeking refuge in smaller cities. According to Variety, the work-in-progress cut stars Lucie Zhang and echoes Woolf's 1929 essay on creative independence—a meditation on artistic freedom that translates across decades and continents.
