AI agents meant to replace Meta workers made “large-scale, disruptive actions”

Meta created a plan earlier this year to become an AI native company—deploying AI agents to replace workers in some teams and cutting headcounts by as much as sixty percent. The plan called for two rounds of layoffs. Ars Technica reports that Meta has since scrapped this plan, though the company wouldn't confirm which teams were affected. The effort highlights challenges organizations face in determining whether artificial intelligence is actually a better fit for certain tasks than employees.
