The United Kingdom has announced a sweeping social media ban for children under 16, with implementation targeted for spring 2027. According to Variety, Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled the proposal on Monday, prohibiting platforms including TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X. Notably, encrypted messaging apps WhatsApp and Signal will remain accessible. The measure represents one of the world's most restrictive approaches to youth social media access.
