Canada's broadcast regulator is backing off—for now. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CRTC chair Vicky Eatrides acknowledged that efforts to tax foreign streamers and social media platforms haven't succeeded. But she's signaling the fight isn't over. "It's not the final chapter," she said, hinting that Canadian attempts to require Netflix, YouTube, and others to finance domestic content production remain on the agenda. For now, those companies avoid new taxes, but the CRTC is plotting a return.
