Google Chrome is closing the loopholes that let old ad blockers keep working
tech
According to The Verge, Google is closing the final loopholes that have kept older ad blockers working in Chrome. Chrome versions 150 and 151, arriving in late June and July, will eliminate support for Manifest V2 extensions like uBlock Origin—workarounds Google first began phasing out in 2024. This marks the end of the road for legacy ad blockers on the platform. The updates reflect Google's broader push to centralize control over how the browser handles both ads and third-party extensions.
