Scoop: CIA director doubts Iran's intentions on deal, sources say
politics
According to reporting by Axios, CIA Director John Ratcliffe has raised serious doubts about Iran's willingness to make nuclear concessions in the Trump administration's newly signed deal. Intelligence gathered by U.S. agencies shows that Iran's internal discussions about the agreement differ markedly from what Iranian officials are telling American mediators. The skepticism isn't unanimous in Trump's inner circle: while Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth share Ratcliffe's concerns, Vice President Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have advocated in favor. The memorandum signed Sunday gives both sides 60 days to reach a final nuclear agreement, but U.S. officials say they'll know within two to three weeks whether Iran is serious about the nuclear concessions the administration is seeking.
