A tick virus that needs only 15 minutes to infect you hit a record 76 US cases

health

According to Boing Boing, a tick-borne virus called Powassan has hit a record seventy-six cases in the United States. What makes Powassan particularly alarming is its speed of transmission: while Lyme disease requires a tick to remain attached for a day or two, Powassan can infect in just fifteen minutes. The virus is rarer than Lyme disease but considerably more severe. As tick season continues, health experts recommend carefully checking yourself and your pets after spending time outdoors.
